01.

Morning:

Mornings at a Galloway House Estate retreat begin with optional yoga in the Loft or a sea dip, followed by breakfasts in cottages (home-made granola, local eggs, honey, etc).

At 10am, the guests gather in the Studio for a morning writing workshop, where we explore the work of other writers and generate new work in response.

At 11am, coffee and a freshly-baked cake are produced for a read-around of new work, before guests have free time to explore or continue writing.

02.

Afternoon:

Lunch is served in the Stables House at 1pm, and usually consists of homemade soup, frittata and a salad from the garden.

After lunch, individual tutorials take place in the Studio, while other guests are free to rest, explore the estate, write individually or venture into Wigtown, our National Book Town.

One afternoon during the week, an optional art workshop is offered, and if possible, we offer massages another day (at an additional cost).

03.

Evening:

Dinner takes place in Stables House at 6:30pm and incorporates as much as possible from Marjorie’s organic kitchen garden, the organic dairy on the estate, and carefully-selected local food producers.

Two or three nights of the retreat, dinner is followed by optional hour-long evening activities (a reading from the tutor, Bookshop Band concert, beach or cliff-top bonfire, etc).
